Doreen Hogle
Doreen has over 24 years of experience counseling universities, research institutions, and start-up companies in all aspects of complex intellectual property portfolio management. Doreen's practice is focused in the areas of the biological and chemical sciences including immunology, genomics, proteomics, metabolomics, small molecules, drug discovery and medical devices. She counsels U.S. and international clients in strategic patent and trademark prosecution and enforcement, advising clients on patentability, patent validity, freedom-to-operate and contested matters. She has drafted and negotiated license agreements, consulting agreements and confidentiality agreements.
Doreen is a past-president of the Boston Patent Law Association, and is a member of the ABA, AIPLA, LES and AUTM. She has co-authored an Amicus Brief for the U.S. Supreme Court case, LabCorp. v. Metabolite Laboratories, and has authored "Copyright for Innovative Biotechnological Research: An Attractive Alternative to Patent or Trade Secret Protection", 5 High Tech Law Journal 75 (1990).
Doreen has been recognized as a Best Lawyer in the U.S. in the practice of patent law (2016 Edition), and has been named as a Massachusetts Super Lawyer in 2004, 2005 and 2006; a New England Super Lawyer in 2007 and a Corporate Counsel Super Lawyer in 2008.
Doreen graduated from the University Of San Diego School Of Law and has a B.S. in Medical Technology from Marquette University. Doreen has extensive research experience in both university and industrial settings in the areas of clinical chemistry, protein chemistry, immunology and metabolic disorders. She has developed immunodiagnostic assays for two pharmaceutical companies, co-authored six scientific publications and is a co-inventor on a U.S. patent.
Doreen is a registered U.S. patent attorney and is licensed to practice law in Massachusetts and California.
